Base of antenna in vertical position
5 of 12
The antenna is up. The black plate, when upright, mounts to the top green plate with two 10-24 bolts installed into the green plate. Care was taken to ensure that the hardware was installed in such a manner that the antenna is vertical, as verified with a bubble level. The feedline from the shack comes in to the bottom of the spark gap, and the feed to the antenna is a short piece of RG8/X wrapped around a ferrite core for common mode current rejection. I have since installed a right-angle UHF connector on the top of the spark gap to alleviate strain on the RG8/X jumper, particularly when hinging the antenna down.
